A STRAIGHT-ON LOOK AT PROFILING Critics Examine U.S. Airline Security Failure in Light of Israeli Success (Avi Lipkin is in Israel, 7 hrs ahead of EST)
With 9/11 still fresh in America’s mind, Umar Abdulmutallab’s “pants bombing” attempt aboard a Detroit-bound international Delta flight on Christmas Day, followed by a security breach in New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport this past Sunday, has everyone in this country feeling quite unnerved.
And yet, the United States is still way behind countries like Israel on the terrorism curve.
As Avi Lipkin, a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces and a former translator inside the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, can attest, perhaps that is why the United States is still struggling to put airline security ahead of political correctness.
Lipkin is American-born, but has lived most of his life in Israel, where the powder keg of Arab conflict is real every day. And while the American response to these recent terrorism scares is to wrestle with whether or not full-body scanners and other security protocols will hurt some passenger feelings, Lipkin agrees with the security experts coming forward who say it’s time to get real.
In Israel, where that country’s national airline has been subjected to more attacks and terrorist threats than any other in the world, there is no holding back. There, they rely less on technology and more on specially trained personnel who single out and question suspicious travelers.
Yes, it is a practice that carries the dirty little title of “profiling” here in the U.S. But in Israel, where they don’t suffer such liberal hang-ups, they conduct this brand of security with tremendous success . . . that saves lives.
As a guest on your show, Lipkin can enlighten your audience to the psyche and resolve of Israel in the face of terrorism, how it dictates the nation’s security strategies, and how the United States can and must adopt similar attributes if it is going to withstand the escalating assault of Islamic extremism against Americans.
For some reason, the U.S. still doesn’t seem to know what it’s really dealing with. And Avi Lipkin is here to spell it out. Call Special Guests right away to schedule an interview.
