LIFE BEFORE LOYALTY: 12 House Dems Vow to Kill ObamaCare Over Abortion (Guest in EST)
Congress is coming down to the eleventh hour on President Obama’s healthcare reform hammer-time and Michigan Representative Bart Stupak (pictured, in the white shirt), along with several of his House Democrat colleagues, is beginning to feel like the rest of America.
That’s because, as it stands now, the leftist leadership trifecta of Obama, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is ignoring him too—much to the chagrin of Chris Slattery, the founder of EMC Front Line Pregnancy Centers.
However, Slattery and other pro-life crusaders are encouraged by Stupak’s outspoken position on the bill. While many political and healthcare experts following this ugly dance on Capitol Hill were already expressing their doubts about the Senate bill passing in the House, Stupak came forward on Thursday morning to make it even more certain.
On ABC’s Good Morning America, he pronounced that he and eleven other pro-life Dems we’re “prepared to take responsibility” for casting decisive rejection votes if the bill did not include the previous Stupak-amendment language barring government healthcare coverage for abortions.
Meanwhile, after doing little to incorporate Republican ideals into the bill, Obama is likewise pushing forward without much of an ear for Stupak. Instead, he and his team continue strategizing ways to short-circuit the overwhelming opposition to his plan by trying more “horse-trading” tactics to buy votes (like the way they did to get over the Ben Nelson hurdle in the Senate) and by keeping a 50-plus-one reconciliation ploy in their collective back pocket.
For an impassioned perspective on the issue of this bill, the notion of healthcare coverage for abortions and the likelihood that Representative Stupak will ultimately score a victory for the pro-life citizen, call Special Guests right now to schedule an interview with Chris Slattery.
